Here at Miðeind, we celebrated the Day of the Icelandic Language with updates to Málstaður. The purpose of the day is to highlight the importance of our language and celebrate its history, present, and future.
We have introduced several exciting new features that make using Málstaður even more enjoyable and useful:
Snara
Snara's dictionaries are now accessible on the Málstaður website with a new, fresh, and sleek interface. The user interface runs smoothly, the search is faster, and you can search for different word forms. It's easy to view results and other similar entries using sidebars. We put a lot of effort into designing a look that stayed true to the old Snara but worked better. Snara in the new interface is accessible through Málstaður and is part of both the fixed subscription and the free subscription to Málstaður. Snara's open-access dictionaries will remain available with free access.
Netskrafl
The ever-popular crossword game Netskrafl is now available on Málstaður. Over 40,000 Icelanders have registered to play at some point. Now you can play against other players or bots with different difficulty levels.
Puzzle of the Day
The last but not least addition is the Puzzle of the Day, a new crossword challenge where players get a half-completed Scrabble board and have to find the best possible move based on a specific tile rack. A new puzzle is published every day at midnight. The first person to solve the Puzzle of the Day gets the top spot on the leaderboard, which is updated in real time.
We at Miðeind are constantly working to improve our services and introduce innovations that benefit Icelandic speakers in their daily lives and work. In this way, we strengthen our language and ensure that it continues to flourish. We regularly post about what we do on Miðeind's website and social media, so be sure to follow us.
We encourage everyone to support the Icelandic language – supporting the language is a good cause!
If you want to follow future projects at Miðeind, we can let you know when there is something new to report.
