Feneyjar or Venezia?

Miðeind's machine translation offers translations between Icelandic and English using neural network technology. Miðeind is also working on a translation system between Icelandic and Polish, with other languages on the horizon. Many are familiar with systems like Google Translate and Microsoft Translator, which support Icelandic reasonably well. These systems use general translation engines for all types of text.

Miðeind's translation engine stands up to them for general text, but excels when it comes to specialized domains, thanks to the possibility of custom-training the engine on texts from that specific field. With this in mind, Miðeind has collaborated with, among others, the Translation Centre of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs to develop a specialized translation engine for their projects, which has exceeded expectations.

Machine Translation

Machine translation is the translation of text or speech from one language to another, performed by a computer. In the early days of machine translation technology, it used statistical methods, but in recent years, deep neural networks have taken over as the best available technology in this field.

Miðeind's Véþýðing offers translations between Icelandic and English using neural network technology. Miðeind is also working on a translation system between Icelandic and Polish, and other languages are on the horizon.

Vélþýðing is particularly well-suited for translating into Icelandic, as it is based on a powerful Icelandic language model that has a rich understanding of Icelandic formation. Vélþýðing is useful for all those who communicate content in multiple languages; to customers, media, investors or partners, as well as anyone who wants to be able to read content in Icelandic that is only available in foreign languages.

On the website Vélþýðing.is, you can try Miðeind's neural network translation engine. With it, you can translate short texts between Icelandic and English, as well as access prototype translation engines for Polish and Faroese.
